Back With Brynn

I’m back!!

After interning with Brynn Capella last summer and walking in graduation, I was excited to return to Chicago. I’ve decided to return for another semester as the lifestyle marketing intern because I felt like there was more to experience. In the summer, I had started a few weeks later than the other interns. At the time, I did not think those few weeks mattered but when August rolled around, I found myself wishing I had a couple extra weeks to fully master what I was learning.

This semester will be the perfect opportunity to reinforce everything I had learned previously. You would probably think that after being here for a summer, it’d be a breeze to get back in to the swing of things…….let me tell you, you sure do forget a lot over the course of 5 months.

One of my main goals this semester is to really strengthen Brynn’s social media presence and following! We hit the ground running with Instagram, Facebook and Newsletters. Which meant Photoshop! Editing on Photoshop has mainly been the biggest road block since I’ve forgotten how the majority of the tools work. It’s also been hard to be creative after being back at school where I was constantly bombarded with exams and readings. This left very little time for me to access my creative side. So brainstorming newsletter or Instagram ideas has left me feeling quite rusty. luckily with Brynn’s help, I’m slowly getting back into the groove of everything!

It’s been even more exciting to be back in the office because Brynn doesn’t currently have a design intern. I recently got to help with picking the leather swatches for the upcoming fall 2018 collection which was super intriguing.

Growing up, I have always been interested in fashion but I never really got a chance to explore this passion further. being able to observe and have a role in the design process has inspired me to hopefully form a career based around marketing or event planning within the fashion industry. one of the things I’m most looking forward to is working on the fall photoshoot because we get the opportunity to help style and prep each model!

In the grand scheme of things, I’m so excited to be back in the Brynn Capella office! I originally was hoping to come back to Chicago & intern with a bigger company that offers paid internships but I’m so happy I changed my mind. I’ve realized there are many more advantages to interning with a smaller business than a large, corporate company. many of my friends are always shocked when I tell them about all the opportunities I’m exposed to at Brynn Capella. I can’t tell you how many friends I have who interned with bigger companies and ended up complaining about having to grab coffee for everyone or “do the dirty work” that no one else wants to do. I get to see so many aspects of the business and work side by side with Brynn and her other interns on a daily basis.

I’m excited to see where this semester with Brynn takes me!
