Introducing the JW Anderson Latch Bag

As is so typically the case—it’s part of my job after all—I was scrolling through Net-a-Porter’s new arrivals section a couple of weeks ago and I came across a new bag from JW Anderson. right away I sent Megs a Gchat and said “look how cool!” She agreed, and three seconds later I was hard at work trying to get my hands on one to review for all of you. enter The JW Anderson Latch Bag. While I first saw the bag in all-over leather, I was able to pull a sample of the bag in leather and ayers snakeskin, and I didn’t know it was possible to love this bag even more until I saw this mixed-media beauty! I am obsessed, and when I showed Megs her exact response was, “WAIT I love THAT BAG.”

The first saddle bag I ever fell in love with was the Chloé mini Marcie Bag back in college. I wanted that bag so bad, and ever since, I’ve always been drawn to saddle bags. I love bags that you can wear cross body because I think they are just so practical, and I also love the overall functionality of most saddle bags. Not to mention, I don’t carry an excessive amount of stuff on a day to day basis, so saddle bags have always just worked well for me. When I saw the JW Anderson Latch bag, I loved it for many reasons. For starters, the leather looked soft and subtle yet able to withstand scratches and wear, and sure enough, in person it is just that: insanely terrific quality leather.

While the overall shape and structure of the bag is classic and clean, the ring detailing gives the bag a subtle edge in the all-over leather version and adds a hint of shine to the gorgeous blue snakeskin and leather version, which ultimately is the version I most want to add to my closet. Either way, you simply cannot go wrong with this bag. The bag has an accordion like gusseted bottom, which is split into two sections, and expands to fit everything you need for the day. From a small wallet/card case to a cell phone, mini notebook and sunglasses, this bag holds it all. I even jammed in a protein bar because if you know me, you know I’m always snacking.

There is also a zippered pocket on the back interior, so you could go sans wallet and toss your ID, debit card and some cash in there for safe keeping. everything about this bag is just so, so good, and I don’t think I’ve loved a bag this much in a long time. You can snag this exact mixed-media version for $1,870 via Bergdorf Goodman or in all-over leather for $1,570 via Net-a-Porter.
